Dear airgun 101 guys,

First of all thank you for starting this website! I still learn new things about airguns every day. :D

But I have a question. I own a FX streamline (.22 caliber) and would like to know if i can shoot the new FX hybrid slugs well out of the smooth twist barrel that comes with the FX streamline? Now i shoot the JSB diabolo 18.13gr at a speed of 277m/s (908fps) and they shoot flawless.

I have done a lot of research work but nowhere did I find a concrete answer.

Thanks in advance and have a wonderfull day!

With kind regards from Belgium

Hi,

Thanks for the quick answers!

So judging from your answers I should be very lucky that my smooth twist barrel (not the X version) shoots the FX hybrids slugs very well.

But you never know, who does not try can not win, so i'm gone give them a try myself. ;)

@Pdog

I tought the smooth twist X was a good barrel for the FX hybrid slugs but you prove me wrong.
I did some research and it seems that the ‘smooth twist X superior’ shoots the FX hybrid slugs very well.
I have tested a lot of pellets and at the moment the JSB diabolo shaped pellets are by far the best (in my FX Streamline).

Hope this is helpful :D

Have a good day

FX .25 Slugs and my DL Classic .25 were not as happy together as I would have preferred @ 25+yds. These 5 were shot @ 930fps w/ 1/2" squares sort of tell my story. Maybe faster?. SmoothTwistX could be the weak link here I am told.
The DL loves JSB 25.39 and 33.95 any time at any distance.

Hi,

Thanks for the kind words.

If your shooting 900+fps then firstly yes the slugs will exit the barrel.

Next is accuracy - this is the tricky part, all barrels have their own characters - and the smooth twist ( not the X ) is designed really for pellets. Slugs will not beat pellets at accuracy at closer ranges - they need to be able to stretch further to where pellets get wind beaten or loose power - that's where the slug comes into its own.

My best suggestion is a pack of Hybrids is £13.99 + postage - try a pack - then at least you will know - my guess is that X Liner and above is going to be better, but you could have a magic Smooth twist that loves them, or you may not......

Stay Well.
