Wondering if any lucky buggers who've already got an FX M3 wouldn't mind sharing what settings work best for .22? (Including pellet choice, grains, etc obviously!) Hopefully it'll save me farting about when I eventually get one :D :D

You can't go wrong with the FX Airgun line of pellets and slugs (if you have a slug liner)

Another M3 owner wondering the same thing. Plan to do a bit of shooting this weekend. I will report back my findings next week. I would have thought by now (or soon) a repository of this info would be established. Any of you M3 video Icon's reading this?

Thanks, Bill

Have you guys looked at AimSmall videos? He is always testing pellets and slugs through his FX air gun!

I did do some shooting this past weekend, at this time i have nothing worthwhile to report. Initially I was working with a less than a half a tin of H+N Baracuda Match pellets. It became obvious that I was going to run out of them before I found an accurate tune. The only pellets that I can find in abundance locally are the Crosman premier 14.3gr and Pirananha's. I backed the regulator off to about 55 bar in preparation of shooting them. I have some Nielsen slugs and other pellets inbound but will try to find out if these will work for me first.

The AimSmall videos are good as he shares the pellet as well as the speed. It would be nice to have access to a repository of all the factors of the tune, e.g., specific barrel, reg pressures, macro and micro wheel and valve setting measurments as well as pellets and speed.

Why don't you start posting some of your settings, Tiswell and see if you might start something!
You FX guys need your own forum!
What say, BIG CHEESE ?

OK Mondo lets see how this goes.

It has been a while since I got to get some range time. Today I started with the Crosman 14.3 grain. They would start to show some promise and then the groups would go to crap. I changed the reg to shoot some slugs. First reg is factory set to 175. I bumped up the second reg to 125. Rear Macro wheel is set to 16 and the micro roller is set to 3.8 as a guess and the valve adjuster is showing 4 lines. I shot some 25.39 gr 22 JSB knock outs in .216" diameter at these settings at around 918 to 925 fps.(I have an old Chrony f1 that has been glitching out on me). the Chrony will throw an error 1 or error 2 on most shots. I think it might be a lighting issue, as I am in the woods and it was overcast much of the day, or it's junk. All shooting was at 50 yards and 10 shot groups were around an inch. Then I tried some 23 grain, .217" NSA slugs. They gave me a 10 shot group of 15/16" but 9 of them gave a group of 7/16". So I will try to address the chrony issues or replace it and try those again.

As a side note, I think I may have a regulator or gauge issue. The gauge at the rear of the gun would indicate a variation of 5 to 7 bar between most shots, with a 10 bar variation between several shots. Also, it seems like the duration of sound of the Plenum refilling varies from 5 seconds to over ten seconds. I have to make some calls to get some info on this.

I tried some Fx Hybrid slugs in the .22, M3, 700mm today. 1st reg @ 175 2nd reg at 125.Wheel at 16 roller at 3.8 valve knob at 4 lines. 5 shot velocity speeds were 938,935,937,937,937. 10 shot, 50 yard groups measured .660", .680" and an 8 shot group measuring .504". both of the first groups were spoiled by an odd flyer the went to the left both times in no wind. Otherwise they would have been in the 1/2" range. I plan to try some silicone lube spray on the slugs to see if it has an affect on the flyers.

Very cool.
Also try rolling your pellets. Here's a good article explaining it:
https://www.airgunnation.com/topic/yrrah-pellet-rolling-does-it-work-a-study/
Basically, get a slight incline and test a 20-50 and find the average. Then eliminate those that are too far off that point. This will, also, show you any skirt deformations which I've found is the #1 cause of flyers IMHO.

Did a test on pellet port vs slug port velocity comparison With the pellet port at the setting previously shared, .22 cal Fx hybrid slugs left the barrel at an average of 936.8fps. Flipped the barrel over and shot 5 through the slug port. Average was 953. Slug port shots had an extreme spread of 18 fps. Pellet port shots had a spread of 3fps.

At 25 and 50 yards accuracy was very good with both ports, The slug port might have been slightly more accurate. I intend to boost the speed up to 953 with the pellet port and see if I can keep the extreme spreads low and gain some accuracy.

Having said that, I shot a 10 shot group 100 yards with the pellet port. ATT00001.jpg I will be happy If I can eliminate the flyer. I did spray the slugs with silicone spray but now need to weigh and maybe gauge or measure and see if that helps.
