how nice it would be if I could get a fx chronograph with it's own screen mounted on the back as my smart phone is not so smart. i don't think it would take another app..

As part of the development team, I can tell you it has been asked for a few times now. I know its being looked at, biggest issue is seeing the screen under the barrel. Also the increased cost needs to be considered.
It may, just may be better value to go for a phone upgrade ??

Just buy a used smartphone from ebay and keep it just for chrono work. You don't have to put a SIM in it to use Bluetooth, shouldn't set you back more than a tenner.
sounds like a good plan,wonder if it's possible to download the app first to see if it works or does a code come with the purchase of a fx chrono ?
Just had a quick shufti on the old Play Store and there is an FX Radar app free for download. So I guess that you can.
I don't have an FX chrono but my cheap Chinese chrono is permanently linked to an old phone that I keep in my shooting bag for the purpose. It saves messing about with my good phone when it's damp or muddy.
